BRISBANE, AUSUSTRALIA,
SEPTEMBER 2ND 2009: The festival
of pop culture fandom, Gen Con™, returns to Brisbane, now with the live
combat entertainment phenomenon.
Fanboy Master Chiefs and homemade Darth Vaders
will
be gunning for glory in the Battlefield LIVE arena.
Combat entertainment company Battlefield LIVE replicates the
compelling action of computer gaming, live.
Battlefield LIVE’s system called S*A*T*R (small arms transmitter
receiver) is the world's first real-time hit feedback system with
compelling real-time in-game statistics without requiring a central
computer system.
Battlefield LIVE™ uses specialized infrared equipment – “gaming
guns” -- so gamers can take their favorite missions from popular
computer games and play them live.
On exhibit will be gaming guns inspired by P90s from Stargate™, M4s
from Call of Duty™, Morita Sniper Rifles from Starship Troopers™.
Gamers take their skills from virtual death matches into an
interactive 3d maze of doorways, corridors and bunkers.
Gamers who are addicted to the thrill of online gaming can test
their talent in a physical competition.
When
when a gamer hits an enemy, the shooting weapon instantly says
‘casualty’ or ‘kill confirmed’ or ‘already dead.’ The enemy’s weapon issues
a near-miss, wound, or dead sound effect.
“GenCon Oz is firing up, despite the GFC, to be the entertainment
show of the year and we are thrilled to be a part of it,” said
Nicole Lander, Marketing C.O. for Battlefield LIVE.
The Battlefield LIVE experience combines the excitement of
role-playing, team-building, and adventure, and stimulates gamers
both mentally and physically.
“It is, literally, heroes made here,” said Ms Lander.
The attraction involves no mess, or risk of injury from harsh
paintballs, and all ages, genders, and levels of fitness are
accommodated.
“It is what all gamers strive for; to go from listening to gunfire
via speakers to hearing it all around them as their pulse races,”
said Ms Lander.
But this is more than an adrenaline antidote to the latest bad news
about the financial crisis.
“S*A*T*R lets people abandon their everyday roles and become a
Hollywood hero for a day,” said Ms Lander.
“Our system improves the gaming experience because, with our
real-time hit-feedback, gamers know instantly when they have hit
someone. This gives gamers a rush,” said Ms Lander.
“With S*A*T*R gamers can take their skills from virtual matches into
a live game, to experience the excitement of a Hollywood
blockbuster, with themselves as the leading lady/man,” said Ms
Lander.
